Bill Gates gab in einem Restaurant einst 5$ Trinkgeld, sein Sohn, mit dem er zusammen gegessen hatte, allerdings 500$. Der Kellner fragte verwundert wieso er im Gegensatz zu seinem Sohn denn so wenig gebe, woraufhin Bill Gates folgendes erwiederte: "Er ist Sohn des reichsten Mannes der Welt, ich bin allerdings nur Sohn eines einfachen Holzfällers.".
