For a society, an infant is a not-yet-productive component. In contrast, a retiree is a post-productive component. You and me, we proclaim the value of human life at even the fetal stage because we are God's creation, and we are enjoined to honor our fathers and our mothers - but what about the cost of keeping those retirees alive?! How about we just dump them on God's front lawn (traditionally, the front steps of the nearest Catholic church)?
