If you put rice and water in a pot, you'll get rice. Saying to yourself that you've been stupid and that you should have rather cooked patatoes because you prefer them won't get you anywhere. Because you've had your reasons to fill the pot with rice instead of patatoes in the first place. Instead of self contempt it's enough to say to yourself: I have cooked rice and now I have rice on my plate. Too bad, I would've like patatoes more.
