I have a dear friend who happens to be a tortoise and is doing her best to combat stereotypes.
Such as, she feels we should be saying 'quiet as a tortoise.' She says "Micees scurry and scrabble and make plenty of noise as they work and travel, and never stop their chatter. Whereas, we tortoise are always very careful to choose where we place our clever feet and never make a sound as we skeedaddle or chew, and thus are the rightful stealth animal."
Please help us.
You can sense her frustration.
