Depression is not sadness.
Don't tell someone with depression to "suck it up" because everyone gets sad sometimes. Most of the time you don't even feel sad with depression. Depression is the excruciating absence of feelings. There is no sadness, no joy, no pleasure, no pain, there's just nothingness. You're just numb, and believe it or not, numb is worse. So, if you've never felt so empty, so lost, so filled with hopelessness that you went to sleep praying to never wake up, you DO NOT know what depression is.
Depression is not sadness.
